Happy 50th Anniversary
FEA Admits Association as a Corresponding Member
In October 1998, during its Annual Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, the European Aerosol Federation's Assembly of Delegates formally approved the Association’s application to become a Corresponding Member. In doing so, the Association became the 22nd member of the FEA.
Established in 1959, the Fédération Européenne des Aérosols / European Aerosol Federation (popularly known as the FEA) is a grouping of national aerosol associations and the voice of the European aerosol industry.
Its regular Congresses and Exhibitions have become the ‘de facto’ international aerosol event and the associated meetings of the International Liaison Committee an effective roundtable of the world’s aerosol bodies, which draws representation not only from the FEA’s extensive European and global membership but also from countries that are not formal members of the FEA such as India and Thailand.
As the voice of the aerosol industry across Europe, FEA is active in many different fields relating to both consumer and industrial areas; covering safety, security and environmental matters.
The FEA has extensive input into the European Aerosol Dispensers Directive – the model for our own 'Aerosol Standard': AS2278 (refer to our June 50th Anniversary e-card).
The FEA sits on - or has formal 'observer' status at - a number of important international as well as European bodies; such as the UN Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and Working Groups of OIML (the International Organisation of Legal Metrology).
The Association's links with the FEA are based on active participation in its activities (such as the regular meetings of the International Liaison Committee) and a commitment to the shared objectives of working towards a sustainable aerosol industry by focusing on social and environmental responsibilities.
The Association's links with the FEA underpin important information flows that allow us to ensure that Association members are kept up-to-date with international aerosol developments and that the Association’s position on important safety, labelling and environmental issues reflect best practice and an internationally harmonised position.
